ANTHONY GARRATT was born in Sevenoaks in 1979. He is predominantly a painter of the British landscape, his work concerned with the weather, an experience and the impact of a landscape. His research time is spent in heavy weather, in remote locations and places that have an emotional impact. Inspiration comes from the British landscape and ever-changing climate which carries with it the mood of the people. Anthony is a full time painter and a Director at the Jamaica Street Studios in central Bristol, one of the largest Artist-led Studios outside London. His work is represented by some of the UK’s leading galleries and he is a regular exhibitor at Art Fairs and at the Royal West of England Academy. In 2010, he was one of 4 artists internationally sponsored by Winsor and Newton to feature in their campaign to promote the new Artists Acrylic range and was shortlisted for the Royal Bath and West of England Landscape Painters Scholarship and the Emerging Artist award at the Royal West of England Academy. He recently succeeded in progressing through a lengthy qualification process to be selected to appear on the BBC, has recently been appointed member artist of RWA and exhibited at RA summer exhibition.
